On March 2, 2023, Helen Vyshniakova, Attorney at Law, Founder and Head of VYSHNIAKOVA & PARTNERS Law Firm, was one of the speakers at a legal conference organized in Bratislava by the leading Slovak news channel TA3. The conference also featured other speakers: Maria Kolíková (former Minister of Justice of the Slovak Republic), Viliam Karas (current Minister of Justice of the Slovak Republic), Jan Mazák (Chairman of the Judicial Council), Richard Karko (Member of the Board of the Slovak Bar Association).
The panel of the event, in which Helen participated as one of the experts, was devoted to the peculiarities of employment of Ukrainians in Slovakia, including those who have been granted temporary asylum status. This issue has become even more acute since the beginning of the war in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, as the number of Ukrainians forced to immigrate to European countries has increased many times over.
Since Helen is a citizen and attorney of Ukraine, as well as an international attorney-at-law who has been practicing and living in Slovakia for a long time, and speaks Ukrainian and Slovak, she had the opportunity to highlight the problems and practical issues of employment of Ukrainians in Slovakia both from the perspective of a Ukrainian citizen and understanding the realities of the labor market and legal peculiarities from the Slovak side.
Helen took part in the discussion of the following issues: the specifics of employment of Ukrainian citizens in Slovakia; how the process of employment of Ukrainian citizens in Slovakia with temporary asylum status has been simplified; what changes the Slovak law Lex Ukrajina has made in the employment process; the specifics of employment in Slovakia and the necessary documents for certain categories of employees (teaching professions, doctors); practical cases in the field of labor law, with which Ukrainians apply to VYSHNIAKOVA & PARTNERS Law Firm, were also considered. In addition, Helen provided recommendations based on the practical experience of the attorneys of VYSHNIAKOVA & PARTNERS, which will be useful for the employment of Ukrainians in Slovakia.
